Gay Hoopla was the first gay porn site I’ve visited that asked for an age verification.
Could this be the future of porn?
MenOfPorn.blog: Mostly gay porn.
Gay Hoopla was the first gay porn site I’ve visited that asked for an age verification.
Could this be the future of porn?
If age verification becomes mandatory, it will only accelerate the decline of gay porn studios. I’m not willing to share my personal data with companies I don’t know or trust.
GH is all about collecting data.
Do you remember that “competition” they were supposedly running a few years ago? It was so that a subscriber would be able to become a porn star and perform with their guys. It was all rigged of course, because they’d already hired someone and he was already a working porn model. I forget his name, but I swear they were using the applications just to gather personal details, which they then sold on. It stank as a con, but then the site has always stank.
Wow this is bad news right here. We have to be prepared for this to hit more sites and that’s a damn shame.
It’s not the first I’ve seen. Corbin Fisher has been doing it for about a month or two now.
Pornhub did the same and even more are going to follow suit. You think that’s something you should see how this Project25 agenda in the States will affect pornography as a whole. Your thought age verification was something, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
Here’s a quote from MSNBC..
“Amid the 920 pages’ worth of conservative ideas in the Project 2025 plans for a second Donald Trump administration, one stands out for its sheer improbability: criminalizing pornography.
Just five pages into the foreword by the president of the far-right Heritage Foundation think tank, the proposal stakes out an uncompromising position that porn should be banned, porn producers and distributors should be sent to prison, and tech companies that circulate it should be shut down.”
So all of these idiot ass porn boys who are in support of that stupid ass party are just shootings themselves in the foot.
If Trump and his fanatical right-wing Republicans are re-elected in America this year, porn in general, but especially gay porn and gay rights, will be doomed! They will do everything possible to destroy or prevent GAY rights! It will then go back to the way it was before Stonewall! And this new “fluid queer Z generation” doesn’t care because they can all claim that they like vaginas and not cocks. So why does it bother you then? They then change their sexuality as they need it or benefit from it. No more and no less. Companies like GH, MEN/MG or Adulttime adapt to the homophobic agenda to make gays look bad and either no longer produce gay porn or only produce queer porn where women have to participate all the time! And why? Because they themselves have homophobic owners, actors and employees in their company and are afraid of feeling the consequences if they continue to use the GAY card from the end of the year!
MEN has been blocking access to their sites for months in North Carolina now because of the age verification requirement. I can access the sites I’m already subscribed to but blocked from their other sites.
You have a subscription for MEN? Really? WOW !!
So people like you do actually exist?
I guess so, otherwise you wouldn’t be real.
Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Btw, the age verification sucks. But then this is America.
I am very curious about the systems that have already been implemented by porn sites. By credit card perhaps?
All the systems I’ve seen proposed so far are terribly bad, not waterproof and very bad for everyone’s privacy.
lol. I’m a long-time Sean Cody subscriber (from the ‘good ole days’, before MindGeek)). Years ago I locked in a great rate and at some point I was offered a ‘lifetime’ subscription to MEN for an almost-nominal fee. And both subscriptions include downloads. I don’t watch much of either anymore but it’s nice to have the options.
I consider myself centre-left politically, and I think this requirement is perfectly reasonable. We require ID for brick and mortar adult entertainment establishments, like strip clubs, BDSM dungeons etc…why not porn sites? I find the proposed reasons to oppose this unconvincing. Large porn companies just don’t want to lose money because of this new regulatory requirement. Big business always opposes regulation. It has nothing to do with protecting privacy.
BTW, if the right decides to try and actually ban porn outright, I’ll oppose that on first amendment grounds.
Of course there is nothing wrong with the idea itself, that only adults should have access to porn sites. I don’t think that is what the discussion is about. The problem is in the execution of a safe method to establish someone’s real age.
Showing your ID at the entry of a brick and mortar isn’t very risky for the privacy of the owner of the ID. The doorman won’t make a hardcopy of your ID and store it in an unsafe place where unauthorized persons could have access. By only looking at you he will have a good idea if you will get access or not. A quick glance at your idea probably is more than enough.
No method that could be used on the internet to verify your age is possible without the digital storage of sensitive personal information. Are you prepared to hand over such information to an internet porn site? I would think thrice!!!
“Miller v. California” established that pornography is not protected by the First Amendment, the federal government has legal grounds to ban pornography in the US and neither this Supreme Court nor any new Judge that Trump would appoint will revert that decision
Yea you say that now but just wait. They keep pushing the door just a little than a little more than a little more gays will find themselves in concentration camps.
thanks republicans.. I mean c’mon
I think it is important to collect data to make sure that it is not a minor accessing an adult website. I completely agree with that. Other matters are irrelevant. And subscribers´s data must be kept confidential, for contractual reasons. No adult website can expose the identity of its users.
This is all well and good, except data breaches and leaks are a thing.
And most of these laws don’t even account for any kind of compensation if or when this inevitably happens.
Got your life ruined because of a breach exposing your wanking habits? What shame! Better luck next time!
Let’s not even talk about the potential of people getting outed because of this. Let’s just hope it happens to some homophobic politician and not to someone in a very vulnerable situation.
Once the first data leak happens, all of this bullshit legislation is going to be swiftly struck down without even a second thought.
It’s no secret that many of these politicians use these kinds of services, be they Republican or Democrat. The Ashley Madison data breach from years ago is a solid proof of this.
Once these fools see their own asses being set alight, then they’ll learn. Not gonna lie: I’m looking foward to seeing them go all painic mode once this happens.
This is just a matter of time. It’s inevitable.
Case in point: Louisiana’s (one of the first US states to implement this ID bullshit) OMV department had a huge data breach last year, in which sensible information of more than 6 million people got leaked, including social security numbers and the like.
Yeah, that’s quite reassuring.
If there are data leaks and compromises with using a credit card at a supermarket or store, do you really think people are going to want to have any possible breaches with their actual identities.
Does anyone remember what happened with the Ashley Madison ordeal. Those men and women were exposed and their lives flipped upside down.
Porn is intimate to people. Not everyone is comfortable relaying their favorite niches and desires in their tastes in porn on their shoulders. Hell porn stars use aliases to keep their identities in check. Why would consumers want the possible risk of theirs being exposed?!
I don’t understand why paid porn sites do this if they need you to subscribe or purchase things anyway. Credit Card verification is a little more secure with the age verification thing. Just require that rather than your whole ID. Incredibly invasive.
You need to be 18+ to apply for personal credit cards anyway. Any minors that would have a credit card would be registered under their parents name anyway, and parents will see the charge if they ever attempt it. Which would leave the onus on the parenting, which is what most people would agree. I wish governments and adult entertainment companies thought that out before throwing this, but that’s what happens when the thing is head by a moral panic by republicans whom most of their people are exposed for assaulting and grooming children or being terrible parents.
Actually banning porn from the internet? Impossible.
Far more likely states will decide they need revenue. Just as with every other purchase online they probably intend to tax porn as internet commerce. To do that they will require knowing who you are and where you live and even your age.
As usual the progressives can’t understand how expanding government results in unwanted outcomes affecting their life choices, but what else is new.
Vote people. Maga and gop is trying to get us as close to Gilead as they can.
